Cindy Wilson

I was in the middle of a seminar for women when a pretty, slender woman approached me and said, "I have something to say. May I use the microphone?" A little hesitant, I agreed.

"I’ve always had a weight problem, but after my last baby I weighed 266 pounds," Cindy Wilson confessed. "I lost down to 232 and thought, ‘Well, I guess I’m going to be stuck there for the rest of my life.’ Then I heard Barbara speak. I was so inspired by everything she taught that I started wearing a little makeup. I exercised. I stopped eating sugar – even added some color to my hair. I’m still struggling, but I’ve gained much more confidence. I’ve lost over 100 pounds! She was followed by thunderous applause. "In the seminar you said to start exercising, so I started running, little by little, and now I run forty-five minutes each day, six days a week. I found that exercise gives me energy. You also said to eat things the way God made them. I remember you saying that He doesn’t caramelize apples on the tree, and you don’t cut open a fresh potato to find it filled with bacon bits." She watched the scales and learned to love the figure 9 – 259, 229, 189. Each descent into the next group of ten was a victory.

Several months later I had Cindy to my house to learn more about her story. We perched ourselves up on the bed in our guest room and talked for hours. Cindy opened her suitcase and said, "Before you see anything, I should tell you that all the clothes I have now I got from the Salvation Army." What I saw was that using the fashion tips she learned in my seminars and with her ability to sew, she had put together several extraordinary effective outfits. One aqua suit had been a size twenty before she cut it down to half that size. It was lovely. She could have worn it anywhere.
Yes, "There was a queen once…"
…and this queen’s name is Cindy.
